Penn State is one of the world's greatest and largest universities. It holds a nearly $3 billion endowment fund--the 27th largest in the nation. In order to grow the endowment, which serves as a savings account for Penn State and is used to fund various operations of the university, its funds are invested in various industries, one of which is the fossil fuel industry. Specifically, Penn States commits tens of millions of dollars in investments to the fossil fuel industry each and every year. Investments like this make Penn State part of the problem; divestment would make make Penn State part of the solution.
